MEDICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT |

Medical education was not considered an important and independent discipline till a short while ago. However, in light of recent trends, a department of medical education is becoming an essential requirement for a medical school. Such departments are established in response to increased public expectations relating to healthcare, social trends towards increased accountability, educational developments, increased interest in what to teach and how to educate doctors and the need to train more doctors. The recently established department of Medical Education at Wah Medical College is still in its infancy. It works in collaboration with, and according to outlines provided by University of Health Sciences. The functions of the department include research, teaching, service provision, career development of the staff and students; which are carried out through workshops, seminars, lectures, poster presentations etc. These activities are organized and conducted by the office holders. Guest speakers are also invited to share their expertise with the faculty of WMC. Assistant coordinator, Dr. Asma Hafeez is currently enrolled with UHS, for a series of workshops related to medical education. She has already attended four of these workshops and conducted two of them at WMC. |
